Kalmbach Media Co. is looking for an Email Marketing Manager who will be responsible for the continuous improvement of the email program while following email best practices and staying up to date on industry trends. They will provide data driven direction for the email marketing program including strategy, execution, and management of multiple email marketing programs within our email and customer data platforms. This position requires a keen understanding of data automation, personalized and dynamic creative content, audience segmentation, insights and data measurements and advanced problem-solving skills. The Email Marketing Manager will work cross-functionally with the Circulation, Ecommerce, Audience Development, Advertising and Digital Content teams to create, maintain, and optimize our email marketing calendar and contact strategy.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and optimize data driven email strategy utilizing customer data platform (CDP) and email service provider (ESP) capabilities to create targeted customer journeys.
  • Day-to-day management of recurring, triggered, and dynamic content driven email campaigns, including but not limited to email campaign set-up, scheduling, testing, tagging and deployment.
  • Work with Circulation, Ecommerce, Advertising, and Audience Development teams to optimize email campaigns through continual testing of creative, cadence, offers, targeting, automation, etc. to achieve common email and newsletter goals.
  • Optimize annual email marketing calendar maximizing send volume, content theme and optimized cadence based on performance testing, internal learnings, best practices, and industry trends to improve overall email contact strategy.
  • Define and optimize list segmentation, targeting and contact strategy based on a customer's online and offline purchase history, website interactions and prior cross-channel engagement with the company.
  • Continually monitor frequency of email messages compared to campaign response and adjust contact strategy as needed to improve performance.
  • Perform customer list management and hygiene to maintain email subscribership effectively and responsibly.
  • Build and scale a life-cycle email program that integrates triggered, behavioral and marketing affinity sends. The lifecycle should evolve, and spawn new programs based on constant testing and analysis across all channels.
  • Manage daily/weekly/monthly reporting for all e-mail and newsletter marketing efforts including campaign results, A/B testing, deliverability, open rates, click rates and other metrics.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field with 4+ years of experience managing email campaigns in a direct-to-consumer environment.
  • Experience with sophisticated email delivery tools (such as Yesmail, Silverpop/IBM Watson Campaign Automation, CheetahMail, ExactTarget, Salesforce, etc.) and maintaining a clean and current email database
  • Familiarity with dynamic content, segmentation strategy and data connections as it relates to email marketing.
  • A working knowledge of HTML, CSS.
